Homages Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt able to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the movie, commenting that he doesn't recollect "one day without mirth".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He concluded with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
Recently, a Los Angeles court official decided to prevent the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate placed a security hold on the cases to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a official listing citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the deaths, public individuals shared varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering controversial remarks that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his perspective to the detractors last week. Talking on his show, Rogan described the statements as "shocking" and implied they revealed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an aide ought to have acted when the decision to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
