Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans offered its support for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
